johnny flynn & the sussex wit

A couple of weeks ago I saw Johnny Flynn & the Sussex Wit play in Leeds. It was a birthday gift from my amazing husband, even though he couldn't join me for the concert. I went with my sisters and we had a great time. They are unbelievably good live and used such a variety of instruments..trumpet, flute, double bass, violin, banjo. It was a seriously fun show!

st albans

I recently spent some time with good friends in St Albans. As they were out at work in the day time I decided to head in to the city centre as a tourist for a few hours and explore the cathedral. It is an incredible building and appears to be a pretty active church. There was a lovely man welcoming people on the door, a couple of groups of school kids having tours and plenty of posters up about church activities. It was a fun outing for a chilly autumn day.

a year of weddings

This year has been full of weddings, including my own. So many of my favourite people have tied the knot this year, and although I haven't made it to every wedding I am so excited for each couple as they begin this new stage of life together. The weddings I did make it to were beautiful in their own unique way. I wish I had taken more photos but here are a few moments that I did manage to capture..

london town

Another trip to lovely London. This time we managed to see a bit more of the city, as planned. We were only there for a weekend but we packed in seeing lots of friends and family as well as exploring beautiful Greenwich and making a stop at my favourite exhibition in the Natural History Museum..the dinosaurs of course! I love the architecture of the museum too, it is an amazing building both inside and out. The final couple of photos were taken in Limehouse where we stayed. 'Til next time London!

thankfulness

It is important to take the time to be thankful for the things we have. No matter how hard life gets, there are always blessings to be acknowledged whether small or large...a message from a friend, some form of provision, the beauty of the world around us. This month I am making an effort to record three things I want to thank God for at the end of each day. In doing this, life's problems don't disappear but it encourages me to remain positive and keep my eyes fixed on the Lord.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

friday film

One of the things I love about using film is keeping the "mistakes"..digital photography allows for them to be covered up or deleted a lot more easily.

autumn

It's here! It has been unseasonably warm, which is much appreciated particularly bearing in mind last winter stretched to the end of March. I am looking forward to wearing more layers in the near future, but for now let's enjoy the lovely light and the way the turning leaves look against a beautiful blue sky.
