friday film

Today my other half is arriving in the country and I can't wait to see him! I'm so thankful that I found someone who loves me even when I look like this..

Here are a few extras from the best festival ever..Gentlemen of the Road 2013. These pictures missed out in my original post, which also happens to be the first Friday Film ever! I can't believe it has been going for so long. Looking over these photos brings back such great memories..amazing weather, awesome music and lots of fun. I'm so thankful I had the chance to go and to share it with such great people!

down by the canal

The other week I took a slightly different route home from town and walked by the canal for part of the way. It was a beautiful autumn day and despite it being a brief moment, it was lovely to be beside the water. I really love this city I live in and there are so many spaces I have yet to explore. The canal runs all the way from Leeds to Liverpool so I look forward to following it a bit further next time (though perhaps not all the way to Liverpool..!).

I'm rounding up this month's theme with a couple of photos from an afternoon in Keswick. Most of the group went for another walk but a couple of us hung out in a lovely café before wandering down to the lake.

On the day my Dad turned 50 we climbed a hill together in the glorious sunshine.

a little video

A couple of weekends ago I went home to join in with our family tradition of making the Christmas cake. We do it every year and it is the first event of the season. I don't allow myself try not to get properly in to the Christmas spirit until a more appropriately closer date but making the cake sparks my excitement for the most wonderful time of the year...

This week's photos are from our second day of walking in the Lake District, making our way up to the top!

the weekend

I spent the whole of last weekend in the beautiful countryside on my church weekend away. However, being on kitchen duty meant I didn't make it out to explore..my brief time off was spent napping! I did manage to snap a couple of shots on my iPhone to give you a glimpse of the lovely Smallwood Manor. It really was gorgeous!

Here are some more shots from our first day of walking for my Dad's 50th..celebrating at the top and views on the way down.

back to burton

At the start of my summer holiday I spent a week at home seeing family and helping out around the house. During that time we spent a day at beautiful Burton Constable. After falling for it on our last trip, I was really looking forward to going back and exploring inside the house. Turns out it is rather unique with it's crazy wallpaper, collection of preserved animals and many rooms hidden around corners. We had a great day and this place is definitely one of my favourites to visit in the area.

This month I would love to share some photos from a family trip to the Lake District for my Dad's 50th birthday. We went in May last year and had a great time walking up hills in the sunshine. It was great to do one of Dad's favourite things all together..even if the rest of us aren't quite so good at it!

cross flatts park

Last weekend I headed up the hill to look around Cross Flatts Park in Beeston. It was a beautiful day and much warmer than anticipated so I thoroughly enjoyed my little wander. There are so many beautiful trees there and I think I caught the last of the roses. I'm so thankful to have such a lovely space within walking distance from my house and look forward to more walks there in the future.
