the best people

One of my favourite things about Christmas time is seeing my wonderful, crazy family (most of whom are featured below). Looking forward to plenty of holiday traditions, lots of good food, way too much time in pyjamas and laughing till it hurts.

holiday time

School's out, my man is here, life is full of Christmas cheer!

little dates

Guess who arrives in the country today?!? Super excited to date my man again

london town

These were taken after a walk around Hampstead Heath with an old friend back at the start of spring. I always love spending time with her. It mostly consists of wandering around, eating good food and (most of all) talking, talking, talking..all my favourite things.

winter blues

But who could actually be sad about all this cold, rainy weather when Christmas is just around the corner??

winter sea

As wonderful as it is to lie on a hot summery beach, there is something magical about being by the sea when it's cold. I find the wintery colours so intriguing.  I spotted these little babushkas in the window of a house when wandering around Robin Hood's Bay last year. The sea captain and his crew with their pipes are so perfect I couldn't help but stop to capture them.

season's close

I can't believe it is almost the end of autumn already. This season has flown by and I can't help but wish the leaves had stuck around in their beautiful reds, yellows and oranges for a little longer. They have brought a smile to my face as I passed them on my short drive to work and I shall miss them once they have all gone. But I do love the symbolism that winter brings, as the trees appear dead but continue to grow under the cold until they blossom again in spring.

one month..

..till this man arrives in the country. I can't wait!

autumn in leeds

I took these two photos on a walk into town to try and use up a film I wanted to get developed. One of my favourite buildings in the city centre, this view is now blocked by a new development alongside it. A surprise colour leak always makes me smile and reminds me of the unpredictable nature of film photography, which is one of the things I love about it.

pause, unpause

Skies like these are long gone since I last made an appearance on this little blog of mine. Various things have kept me away but I have missed posting over the past few months. I haven't quite taken as many photos as I intended to this year but I have aquired a few new cameras and by Christmas should have the much coveted (by me) Pentax K1000 in my posession..watch this space. For now, there are many photos I'd like to share with you and many more moments I look forward to capturing. So if you're still here, thanks for sticking with me and I hope you enjoy reading along.

summer lovin'

As you read this I am on a plane making my way across the Atlantic to spend the summer with my other half. After six months apart, a whole summer together feels like a dream. See you on the other side..

sunny days

These old photos are from my first roll of film when I decided to get back in to film photography. They hold happy memories for me...of London in the sunshine, chilling in the park, yummy food (those would be blurry macarons) and spending time with my lovely cousin.

clay pigeon shooting

An activity suitable for any family occasion..in this case to celebrate my Granny's 80th birthday! It turned out to be quite fun, despite the cold and the fact I tied with Granny for last place..

counting down..

One month today I will be flying across the Atlantic to spend the summer with my love. I can't wait!

some words from a big sister

My youngest brother and sister (far right and far left) finish their exams today. They are great and I am very proud of them. Well done you two!

robin hood's bay

We spent a cold winter's day at Robin Hood's Bay exploring the narrow, cobbled streets before walking along the beach and finishing up with some excellent fish and chips.

on the coast

Between Christmas and New Year we escaped for a few days to a little cottage on the coast, just the two of us. We bundled up in front of the fire, walked along the cliff tops, played lots of scrabble and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

a song for the weekend

This week has been tough. Sometimes life just gets on top of you. But the weekend is here and we get an extra day off on Monday..praise the Lord for Bank Holidays! So I am going to chill out and have a fun couple of days. This is my current happy song, it makes me dream of sunshine and the beach and having no responsibility. I hope it brings a smile to your face. Have a lovely weekend!

a very special day

Today is the birthday of my favourite guy. Happy birthday my love! I miss you.

life recently

The past few weeks have felt non-stop. My two week Easter break was jam packed with different activities and mini breaks spent with some wonderful people. This week back at work has felt crazy busy, with new challenges and not quite enough time in each day. But the sun has been shining all week and I have a free weekend ahead of me so I am looking forward to a restful couple of days. I hope you enjoy your weekend..whatever it may hold.

happy easter

Hope you enjoyed the Easter weekend!

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8

silly faces..an experiment

This is my favourite use of my 4 lens camera yet. While on holiday with my family last year I had the idea to test the camera out as a photo booth. As you can see, the shots are recorded in an anti-clockwise U shape. The four shots are captured in about two seconds so we had to think of one face involving lots of movement instead of having time to pose for each one. The photos came out a bit over exposed but it was lots of fun and they remind me of that relaxed feeling you have on holiday which (in our case) leads to being a bit silly. Looking forward to more times like this with my family over the Easter weekend.
