two years

Today is my wedding anniversary. I'm so thankful that I get to call this man my husband. As we continue to wait for my visa to be granted so that we can be together as we should be, he supports me from afar, encourages me and always makes me smile. I love sharing life with him, whatever that may look like, and I can't wait to see what this year will bring. Happy anniversary my love..

capturing light

I love the beauty that comes from different types of light. Good lighting is key for taking a good photo, but I'm almost scared to try and capture light itself because those photos so rarely do justice to what I see...pretty sunsets, shadows on a wall. This photo was a bold attempt at allowing light to be the subject of a photo. I was lying in bed, looking up at the lovely patterns on my ceiling and decided to take a risk...and I'm glad I did.

Last summer I decided to get my little 4-lens camera out and have another go at using it. The first time around the tops of my photos were slightly cut off as the 'viewfinder' is just a plastic frame which lifts up on top of the camera and therefore the lenses were positioned below what I was looking at. To counter this, I developed a new technique: I saw the photo I wanted to take, put the camera in front of my face so the lenses were at my eye level..and clicked. Overall this method (whilst feeling a bit silly in practice) seems to have captured my intended shot more accurately. It almost felt more exciting getting this roll developed as I couldn't actually see the picture as I took it!

waiting for spring

Today was mild, not cold but mild, and the sun was shining. I know spring doesn't officially start for another couple of weeks but today made me excited that it is on it's way. Soon enough the weather will start to warm up, blossom will appear (my favourite) and the leaves will return to the trees. I love the anticipation of each season. Before it arrives there are so many things to look forward to..and then as you decide you've had enough it's on to the next one! So for now I am spring-focused and very excited about all it will bring.
