stormy skies

I took these during a thunderstorm whilst on holiday in France a few years ago. My friend had just given me her old camera containing a half-used film, which she was convinced was black and white and fine to use. Turns out it was colour and the film had been exposed somehow, but I rather like the effect it gave these stormy pictures.

To finish my little series on Kenya, here are a few of my favourite parts of the trip..

:: blue skies and orange roads :: our fun day at the local school :: sheltering from the {oh so heavy} African rain :: reliving childhood memories with chips and tangawizi by the pool ::

My time in Kenya was spent with a team of truly wonderful people, including my now husband. The trip was part of a year's internship at a church in Oxford and the friendships I made were one of the highlights of the year. Even though I don't get to see them all very often, I feel very thankful for the time we shared together and lucky to have them as part of my life.

valentine's

Regardless of any strong feelings you may have towards Valentine's Day, I do hope you have a wonderful weekend spent with people you love.

Getting around in Kenya was interesting. Most of the time we piled in to the minibus..often with more than a few extra bodies than seats which was not particularly pleasant in such warm weather! On one occasion we took bike-taxis home from the town. For me, with my irrational fear of cycling, sitting above the back wheel of a bike was a pretty terrifying experience and I clung on for dear life as the bike flew up and down the bumps on the dirt road. Needless to say, the next time we went in to town I walked.

winter days

Feeling very much ready for some warmer weather now England. Fast track to Spring please?

Over this month I would love to share some photos with you from 2011 when I went on a mission trip to Kenya. I took a old point and shoot camera with me to document the visit. These first pictures were taken at the school we volunteered at, mostly painting rooms but here running an activities day for the children. It was really good fun and a little crazy, as you can tell from the huge game of British bulldog in the last photo!
